Hassan Hajjaj, Khadija, 2010, Edition of 7, Metallic Lambda Print On 3mm White Dibond, 53.5h x 36.77w in / 135.9h x 93.4w cm
If you’ve been to Marrakech, you’ll know the only way to travel is on two wheels. Buzzing through the twisted labyrinths of souks and market stalls are the all-female Kesh Angels, a biker group who have been shot by North African-born photographer Hassan Hajjaj. ‘My photos show the energy of Morocco,’ he says. ‘We’re a very colourful nation, from what we wear to the way we are.’ Traditionally dressed but looking fierce, the Angels pose in outfits that are a mesh of patterns and textures. They’re giving bike culture in the city a new spin.
